Astruptunet (Direct translation: Astrup yard), Jølster
Astruptunet is a museum because of the painter Nikolai Astrup. The painter used this place to get inspiration, and used it as a studio in the last 14 years of his life (He died in 1928). The farm still holds the same look as when the artist lived. They have exhibited many of his paintings, and have a little café in place for people to visit. The house and yard are depicted in several of Astrup´s paintings.
Today Astruptunet is not just an artist´s home, but also an important part of the artist's life work. We see in his paintings, both the interior and exterior of Astrup´s love for the environment and space he found himself in. In the old cowshed the public can see a unique collection of printing plates and images. The exhibition conveys craftsmanship behind Astrup's art in a way that you can only see on Astruptunet.
